Villa Amatista, Lanzarote.

10-17th November 2018

Villa Amatista   – 10-17th November 2018 Our third time here at this  artistically inspiring, simple and tranquil haven, nestled in the unspoilt countryside and vineyards of La Geria Natural Park, Lanzarote.  So if you are looking for a very reasonable, “normally” sunny, winter retreat, in a quiet, rural centre, where every contrasting view you see below is within a 10-40 minute drive away….then read on below.

The island itself offers extraordinary beauty and spectacular contrasts. So much so, it became part of the world heritage of protected landscapes and was declared a Biosphere in 1993 by UNESCO.

Quiet, Intimate coves or vast, dramatic beaches. With golden or dark, lava stained sands and often panoramic cliff top walks above….

Whether you are a beginner or experienced; this Retreat, limited to a smaller group of 12 people maximum, is offered to meet you where you are.

Beach Lanzarote retreat

Lanzarote is the oldest and most easterly island of this Spanish archipelago; lying just 86 miles from the African coast – therefore enjoying average sunny, November daytime temperatures of 22 degrees, 25 in the sun!

Room porch

Villa Amatista has a wide variety of individually crafted rooms and casitas, as above, nestled within it’s lush semi -tropical gardens.

The breathtaking, other-worldly landscape of the Volcanic National Park below, begins just 10 mins drive away. Throughout the day, the craters and mountains change their colours according to the varying positions of the sun: sometimes they appear in strong ochres, crimsons and reds, sometimes soft greens and cream.

Fire Mountain Lanzarote

Being away and resting from your normal routine, practicing yogic movement, stillness & contemplation and being more outdoors in nature, may help to cultivate a fresh perspective and awareness. You may prefer to take the week more as a retreat, with more silence and reflection during the free time. Or simply to just relax, restore and be on holiday!

Most importantly you begin from where you are….

“Thank you for another fantastic retreat – as lovely as Molino but in different ways.

I loved the calmness of Amatista itself which was apparent from the very first day.  Also the size of the group, and sitting around the big table outside for meals, and having our own little kitchen areas and outside space.  Lanzarote itself was a revelation – so much spectacular scenery to explore, and all so easily accessible.  And such a treat to have warm sunshine and to be able to swim in the sea in November.

The yoga sessions were just as wonderfully restorative as I remembered, but being in a smaller group with the more individual help you were able to give made me confident to try some of the more challenging poses I didn’t attempt last year.

All in all a very special, relaxing and companionable week – what a lovely group we had!

Would love to come back again if the dates fit next year.

Many thanks again, James.

Abrazos”

“I really enjoyed coming back to Lanzarote. The last time I was there was 15 years ago and I had almost forgotten how beautiful it is in its own way with all that volcanic rock and soil. There is a certain energy to it, somewhere between invigorating and calming, or maybe even both… quite strong anyway. And I did like the place itself, it was very noticeable that it was built and has been looked after in a caring and loving way. And it is very quiet! I could certainly experience some of its healing and transforming energy – along with the yoga and everything else of course… I feel lighter and much more grounded in my body, even now after what has been quite a stressful week back at home.
I came back to 5 degrees and damp darkness here in Germany, but now feel my inner warmth has returned … So I am really, really pleased! And did a little bit of yoga this morning before breakfast, so I am also quite pleased with myself about that too.

Also, should you consider going back to Lanzarote – I would come (and try and bring my friend who I know would love your yoga and the island), especially if it would be some time between October and March!

I am really very grateful that our paths have crossed…….. Thank you!

All the best”

I really hope to get to another one of your retreats in the near future. Problem is, everybody wants the same thing. 😉
I have quite a few of my Swedish yoga buddies who I know would love Molino if you plan on getting back there someday.

Island Map

The landscape often surprises the first-time visitor by its diversity and breathtaking beauty – mountains and rugged fields of recent lava (270 years ago), soft rolling hills covered with flowers in spring, and wide plains make up the 500 square mile island. With 300 volcanoes, many areas of the island seem to be bizarre and otherworldly.

Look out places like this, with stunning circular cafe’s. Looking out to Graciosa. A stunningly beautiful tiny island you could visit by ferry, or take a catamaran tour around it. With beautiful beaches, such as to the left, and surely one of the few places without  asphalt in Europe!
